After 713 days at DCSPCAâs shelter, Frenchie finally found her dream home.
Regal and beautiful tabby cat Frenchie charmed DCSPCAâs staff from the moment she came through the doors. However, this cute little lady enjoyed affection on her own terms. We all knew to give her the space she needed, even if that meant worshiping her from afar. Adopters looking for a cuddly cat favored others who were immediately friendly. Perhaps a little aloof, Frenchie was never an unfriendly cat. She just took her time to get to know the people around her, and she knew who she liked most. She had spent nearly two full years at the shelter when her favorite staff member moved away. We feared she would be terribly lonely without him. But that very week, Frenchie finally found the loving home sheâd been waiting for.
"There was something extra special about Frenchie!"
DCSPCA: How did you find out about Frenchie?
KAYLENE:Â New to Hyde Park, I discovered Frenchie on the DCSPCA website while researching rescue/surrender adoption opportunities in the area. Already a parent to Mr. Hobbles, a 2-year-old fur-baby rescue cat with a club foot, I was interested in expanding our family by one more, but wanted it to be a good fit for all.Â
DCSPCA: When did you know you wanted to adopt her?
KAYLENE:Â After a brief meet and greet with Frenchie and her primary handler, I sensed her sweet disposition and knew that she would be a wonderful choice. There was something extra special about Frenchie!Â
"She loves to chase her toys around the house, occasionally planting her favorites in the food bowl."
DCSPCA: How has she settled into her home?
KAYLENE: She has an understated air of regality about her and I have not once regretted bringing her into our family in January of this year. Frenchie's name really suits her easygoing, playful personality!Â
"And, although reserved for the most part, Frenchie is all about belly rubs!"
DCSPCA: What are some of her favorite things or activities?
KAYLENE:Â She loves to chase her toys around the house, occasionally planting her favorites in the food bowl. Her favorite hangout is the top tier of the cat tree by the window where she can oversee the comings and goings of the residents in the parking lot below. No shenanigans get by the eye of the queen!
And, although reserved for the most part, Frenchie is all about belly rubs! This little lady, throwing caution to the wind, will unabashedly expose that belly for as long as you have time to scratch it!
DCSPCA: How has adopting Frenchie changed your life?
KAYLENE: She's a joy and a very welcome presence.
