We had adult cats Christina and Cloudy, as well as kittens Nibbles and Anna! Everyone was very excited to hear that they hit the jackpot and scored a home of their own! They all jumped right into their individual carriers and were ready to head home!
Cloudy is a young adult who is really starting to come out of her shell! When she first came to us, she was very shy and hid most of the time. She is very sweet and is finally starting to come out and let people see how beautiful she is! Come visit and let her steal your heart! #adotpdontshop #dcspca #adopt ... See MoreSee Less

Happy Friday! We kicked off this weekend with three wonderful adoptions! Mika, a senior dog, was adopted by his foster family. They love him so much, they just couldn’t imagine letting him go! Ethel is a young adult whose new parents knew she was the one right away. She warmed right up to them and it wasn’t long before she was happily snuggled into her arms. Daisy (camera shy) is a young kitten who won her parent’s over as soon as they walked in the door. She happily hopped into her carrier and went on her way! Congratulations to all who were adopted today! We wish you all the best in your new homes. Our Adoption Center reopens tomorrow at noon. There are still plenty of kittens waiting for you to fall in love with them! #adoptdontshop #adopt #dcspca ... See MoreSee Less

Please help HeARTs Speak collect lenses for shelters across the country! This is a fantastic organization who donated the camera we use to get just about all of our adoption photos. They also provide lessons on how to get the best photos possible in a sometimes difficult environment! Good quality adoption photos can do wonders for animals in shelter. We know it has here! Please help them spread their magic to shelters who are in need!

We're getting ready to take our Perfect Exposure Project (PEP), on the road again! We believe knowledge is for sharing, and by providing basic lessons and equipment for shelter staff and volunteers to develop their creative skills, we’re granting more animals the unforgettable first impression their lives depend on.
We're learning that many of the shelters we work with already have DSLR's, and since we operate on a very lean budget, rather than give them a whole new system, we've started giving them a 50mm lens to replace their "kit" lenses, which dramatically improves the quality of the photos they are able to get.
Do you have any nifty fifty's in excellent condition collecting dust in a closet? Send them along to us so we can put them to lifesaving use this year! We are happy to give you a tax deductible donation receipt for your generosity.
